"Red" Skyliner

Of the 3 1959 Fords, this one (known as "Red") is the most complete and in the best condition. This is one of the cars from Tennessee and has very little rust. I don't use this garage bay much because the car takes up most of the space and it is full of parts for this and the other Skyliners. On the hood is a box labeled "59 Ford", in the corner is a grill, on the floor is a wiring harness. Wheel covers, a trunk lid for one of the cars and more parts. A look inside. I have the rear window. The dash is complete with clock and radio.

"Blue" Skyliner

This 1959 Ford Skyliner is known as "Blue" and is another one of the cars that came from Tennessee. This car was one of the very early production models. This car has a little more rust than the "Red" Skyliner. Most of the rust is in the lower rear fenders and rocker panels under the doors. This car was stripped down for an off-frame restoration and the missing parts are stored in multiple places. Front right view. Front view. The rear diff. is on the carrier with the axles off to the side out of view. View of inside of the trunk.

"Yellow" Skyliner

This 1959 Skyliner is known as "Yellow" and is the car I drove in High School. When I upgraded from the Skyliner to a 1966 Mustang convertible I parked the car outdoors at my dad's farm. Over the years the car sank into the soil and the frame rusted through. When we tried to remove the car from the soil it pulled apart. This rusty mess still has many usable parts for restoring the other two Skyliners Trim parts, bumpers and other parts. This windshield is still good and very hard to find since it only fits the 1959 Skyliner and will not fit any other 1959 Ford models. More usable parts including the square metal "tub". This "tub" fits in the trunk, over the spare tire, and is where items are to be stored when the top is retracted. It also keeps items away from limit switches that sequence the movement of the top and trunk lid. Many Skyliners are missing this "tub". I only have this one.

Skyliner Frame

This is the frame for the "Blue" Skyliner that I started to restore. This is a solid frame with no rust. The rear diff. and springs were stored inside the garage and the rear springs were rebuilt (re-arched). Front view. The front suspension was rebuilt and had new ball joints installed. Also shown are some of the spare rims I have for moving the cars. View of the frame from the back. View of the center cross member of the frame. Most of the 1959 Fords didn't have this cross member. Since this was a two door convertible it needed a very strong stiff frame. A view of the drive shaft "tunnel" through the center cross member.
